The hand carved frame that surrounds this extraordinary mezzotint is a work of art all by itself. Carved of oak, it is wonderfully intricate and without any missing pieces. The carving on the sides is 6 1/2 inches wide and at the top a full 11 inches. The mezzotint is a portrait of a French lady dressed in beautifully detailed finery. Her gentle facial expression complements the soft pastel colors that surround her. The mezzotint measures 18" by 23". The entire piece is 33 1/2 inches by 41 inches.
