This barrel shaped Mettlach stoneware piece is done in molded relief with grapes, leaves, and vines. The lid has a grape finial and a hole for a ladle. The handles are done in twisted grapevines. The piece is marked with the incised Mettlach castle mark, #2225, and Mettlach. This is in excellent condition. There are two tiny rough spots around the base - I really hesitate to even refer to them as flakes as they are so small. There are no other chips, cracks, or repairs. It measures 11 inches high and 11 inches from handle to handle. |
