Peter Ibsen established his pottery in Copenhagen in 1843. He trained at The Royal Copenhagen where he became a master thrower with a great sense of design and color. He worked primarily with terracotta. This is a fine example of his work. Warm earth tones with nice gradation of colors set the background for the raised mushrooms. The piece is signed and numbered, 417. It measures 3 inches high. Mr. Ibsen's work was short lived as he died at a young age in 1860. His work was carried on by his widow and son.
