| The Pairpoint Manufacturing Co. was, primarily, a metalworks factory. This lamp base is a very unusual piece made by this company. It features a draped figure of a lady holding a torch that supports the stem and sockets for the lights. The circular base is supported by ball feet. The style is very Art Nouveau. It is silver plated. It appears to be plated over copper as there is some evidence of copper peeking through. The base is weighted to give stability to the piece. There is some age appropriate wear to the silver and what appears to be two sodder drips on the arm holding the torch. Overall condition is very fine. We have seen many examples of Pairpoint lamp bases that are urn shaped, but few with such a striking classical figure. The base is marked, "Pairpoint Manuf Co." The lamp measures 23 1/4 inches to the top of the finial and 16 1/2 inches to the top of the torch. |
