Redware, Sewer Tile, Folk Art Bulldog
This unusual figure is made of redware and is,sometimes, referred to as sewer tile. This was an inexpensive way for workers, at factories in Ohio, to produce their own pieces. Today's collectors consider these very desirable folk art items and are, generally, very primitive and stylized in nature. This bulldog is glazed with a high black glaze. He measures 6 inches long by 5 1/2 inches high. No chips, cracks, or repairs.
